"UNITED IN HOPE" - SSCA Young Artists, Authors, and Leaders Awards
Time & Location
About The Event
This year, SSCA is combining our awards ceremony for our artists and authors of the YAAS program with our student leadership awards. For decades, Sister Cities International has leveraged the power art has to transform societies and transcend cultural boundaries through the Young Artists and Authors Showcase. The Showcase has given youth around the world opportunity to express their vision for a more unified, peaceful world through original art and literature. As we strive to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation—one individual, one community at a time—we recognize a younger generation, capable of dreaming up a human existence that is even more dynamic, more advanced, and more resilient than ever before.Scottsdale Sister Cities Association (SSCA) has encouraged local high school students to participate in this art and writing competition for more than 32 years, with the essential goal to give voice to young artists and writers. As we move through this year of uncertainty and isolation,we look toward an unexpected path—filled with innovative ideas and renewed hope—and welcome students to share their artistic expressions of the theme Unity in Hope. Selections from students in our sister cities of Kingston, Canada; Alamos, Mexico; and Marrakech, Morocco, are included in this show as our quest for international goodwill and connectivity continues. On view April 16 through June 20, 2021 at the ArtReach Space at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts ... plan a visit or view the exhibition online!A virtual reception and award ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 8th, from 1:00-2:00 pm.
