December 2022 is the Bicentennial Celebration of the USA recognizing the independence of Mexico.
This important relationship was celebrated in Alamos, Mexico on December 2nd by students led by Trini Nevarez in a special ceremony and reading of a proclamations in both Spanish and English found here in English and here in Spanish. SSCA provided a powerpoint presentation about the relationship between the USA and Mexico and the relationship between Alamos and Scottsdale.
Here in Scottsdale, fourth grade students in Scottsdale's Pueblo Elementary Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program wrote celebration letters in Spanish to their Alamos counterparts to commemorate this important relationship between our countries and cities. Fifty-five student letters will be delivered to the school later this month. Special thanks to Trini Nevarez of Alamos, Pueblo teachers Diana Guerrero and Kristen Tawes, as well as SSCA members Max Rumbaugh, Rene Bermudez and Yuli Armenta for their organization of this great celebration of our 200-year relationship.
