Alamos Shoe Marathon and Medical Equipment Drive

Scottsdale Sister Cities Committee of Alamos, Sonora, Mexico is looking for shoes for youth, new or gently used, to fit on the feet of school children in the town of Alamos and in it’s outlying villages. We have recently created a “Shoe Marathon” to help those young people who must walk to school. Donating shoes or money to buy shoes will help run our marathon and keep us on track with assistance for those with little means. The committee has discovered another need in our sister cities’ community: personal medical equipment for disabled people and seniors with mobility issues. Donated wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or canes can go a long way for those in need. These aids are returned to the community center, when it is no longer needed, to be shared with the next person in need. Please consider donating this type of equipment or a cash donation for this cause. Often these items can be found in thrift stores such as Goodwill at discounted prices and cash donations can go a long way. Please consider contributing money or new, or slightly used, shoes for students and/or personal medical equipment for mobility. We have already received a generous donation from an anonymous donor to get these efforts rolling along the path of success. If you have new or gently used shoes for the Alamos Shoe Marathon, please contact Rene Bermudez or Yuli Armenta at Rene.Bermudez@gmail.com or 480 252-9282 If you have personal medical equipment to contribute, please contact Katherine Callingham at katherine.callingham@gmail.com or 480 420-4620. A special fund is being established to receive contributions to purchase low cost shoes and personal medical equipment. Let us know if you prefer “ Shoe Marathon” or “Medical Equipment”. Otherwise, your donation will be used for both. Cash donations can be mailed to Scottsdale Sister Cities Association, PO Box 4563, Scottsdale, AZ 85258. Credit card contributions can be made at: https://www.scottsdalesistercities.org/donate-now

Thanks for your help.
