SSCA has been honored with Sister Cities International’s (SCI’s) 2021 Best Overall Program award – for cities with populations from 100,000 to 300,000. This is SCI’s highest award and was announced during SCI’s annual conference in July. It is a great recognition
of our efforts to keep our mission going during the pandemic. The following is the Executive Summary from our application:
The first ten weeks of 2020 were filled with our usual intense program of incoming and outgoing exchanges and other activities. By mid-March everything changed, and we quickly learned to use technology to keep our programs going; increase our interactions with adults and students in our sister cities; provide philanthropic support wherever possible; share experiences; keep connected with our citizen diplomat members; and support key SCI initiatives. 2020 turned into an extremely busy year. We even finalized a new sister city in December! It was hard work, but great fun and highly rewarding – with important lessons learned for the future, particularly the use of technology to continually and personally involve our overseas partners in our local and national activities. Our relationships are stronger than ever.
Thanks to you all!!
