The Valley’s 1st Annual Irish Golf Scramble will tee off on Friday, May 12 as a fundraiser to benefit the Scottsdale-Killarney Student Golf Exchange and the AZ Colleen program administered by the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Faire Committee.
Golf foursomes and singles can now register for a day of Irish fun in the sunshine on the undulating terrain of Scottsdale’s Silverado Golf Club. All proceeds from the event will be shared equally by SSCA’s Killarney Committee and the St.
Patrick’s Day Parade and Faire. Our student golfers traveling to Killarney for a week in June, 2023, and the Irish student golfers visiting Scottsdale in October/November are the ultimate beneficiaries. Along with the Arizona Colleen who will visit Arizona’s Irish sister cities this summer as an ambassador of our state’s businesses and the Irish diaspora.
Spearheading this collaboration for SSCA is JoAnn Garner, chair of the Killarney Committee, and Jeff Aspland who heads up the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Faire. As a Killarney Committee member, Aspland provides the link between his volunteer Board and SSCA.
“We are honored to partner with St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Faire which has been creating the Greenest Day in the Desert for 40 years, as we strive to build the Irish Scramble into a signature event in the Valley,” commented JoAnn Garner.
An Irish bagpiper will kick-off the Scramble activities, and Scottsdale’s Mayor David Ortega
will attend the buffet lunch.
