SSCA Youth Leadership Award Winners

Scottsdale Sister Cities connects to the local high schools through their International Clubs. A student was selected from each school for his or her leadership skills and efforts at connecting youth to the global community. This promotes the Sister Cities' mission of bringing about international friendship and goodwill, one person, one city at a time. In addition, these students participate in the larger SSCA Junior Board which connects students not only to the world, but also connects Scottsdale students with like interests within Scottsdale. Each leadership award winner received $100, and finalists received $50. Youth Leadership Awards were granted at these Scottsdale high schools: Arcadia - Megan McCartan--Co-President, Alamos exchange student, SUSD Dual Language Immersion student, Junior Board member Chaparral - Ava Claire Lariego--President, Alamos, Interlaken and Marrakech exchange student, Jr. Board member Desert Mountain HS - Caroline Castle--President, Alamos, Interlaken and Marrakech exchange student, Jr. Board member, Delegate at Sister Cities International Youth Summit in Houston Scottsdale Prep - Jack Swenson--Junior Board member, created an organization called Chess Peace connecting and teaching people about chess around the globe. https://www.chessforpeace.org/ Saguaro - Isabel Haas --President, Interlaken, Uasin Gishu, and Marrakech exchange student, Junior Board member, SUSD Dual Language Immersion student
