On November 12th, sixty passengers were on board for SSCA’s multi-media trip “Around the World in 80 Minutes” visiting our eight sister cities at Scottsdale Public Library’s
Civic Center Auditorium.
The whirlwind trip covering over 30,000 virtual miles included a welcome by “Captain” Mayor David Ortega. “Tour guides” for each city included:
• two former youth ambassador exchange students (Kyle Polen and Soleri Stephan)
• two SSCA past presidents (Joe Brett and Lisa White)
• and chairpersons of our City Committees (JoAnn Garner, Suzie Austin, Moulay Zougari).
Each speaker narrated powerpoint slides, some including video and drone travelogues, to showcase the beauty of each of our culturally-rich sister cities and the strong relationships we have nurtured with them.
Plans are in the works for these “real” visits to our friends abroad:
March 2023: to Alamos for the SSCA-sponsored Jazz Festival
June 2023: to Killarney, Ireland (both a member trip and student golf exchange)
2024 to Interlaken, Switzerland to celebrate our cities' 25th anniversary
We hope to welcome you aboard for our next trip. . .contact info@scottsdalesistercities.org with any questions on how you can become involved with SSCA, both our travel opportunities and fun local activities to build your international bridges.
