Alamos Students visit Scottsdale After a Three-Year Pause

Three Alamos high school students arrived Sunday, April 23rd for a week-long exchange with our two Scottsdale students from Desert Mountain HS and Phoenix Country Day School. The program had been on a three-year pause due to Covid.

Our two students spent a week in Alamos in March 2023 being hosted by two families in our sister city in Mexico.

A full schedule for the second half of this student exchange was prepared by the Alamos committee and the two hosting Scottsdale students. They were able to spend a day at both public and private high schools and attended a welcoming presentation and tour of Arizona State University. Several of the Alamos students expressed interest in attending college here.

In the middle of the week, we toured Montezuma Castle in the Verde Valley and pushed on to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon all in the same day. The Musical Instrument Museum and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West were included on their week-long calendar. They left by commercial bus for Alamos on Saturday afternoon, the 29th. Scottsdale Sister Cities is excited to see this first full return of a student exchange.
