Sister Cities Names Student Golfers as Youth Ambassadors to Killarney, Ireland
Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega presented the ambulance keys to Alamos Mayor Victor Balderrama this past week at Scottsdale’s Rotary Park with an audience of 30 people present. Rotary Club of Scottsdale and Scottsdale Sister Cities made it possible to present the City of Alamos, Sonora, Mexico with a used but refurbished ambulance, donated by American Medical Response (AMR), stocked with basic medical equipment. It was driven down to Alamos in southern Sonora by the Alamos Fire Chief later in the week.
This ambulance will help provide emergency services to the community of 15,000 people plus numerous remote villages in an area of about a third the size of Maricopa County, Arizona.
Both mayors were able to meet "one on one" in newly elected Scottsdale Mayor Ortega's office after the presentation.
Alamos has just over a 50 year relationship as Scottsdale’s oldest sister city, which continues to thrive with high school student exchanges, jazz festivals, medical brigades, city services exchanges and other cultural programs.
