Although Scottsdale Sister Cities Association Inc. was incorporated on January 13, 1983, our history goes back considerably further.
On January 29, 1970, shortly after Scottsdale and Alamos became sister cities, the first meeting was held of Scottsdale's Sister City Committee. Thirteen committee members attended, and it was noted that membership was open to anyone interested. Vice Mayor Ken Murray chaired the meeting, but it was agreed that the group would later elect a Chairman and Murray would become the ex-officio chairman. The main order of business of this first meeting was planning a trip to Alamos during the Easter vacation week. So SSCA's 50th anniversary was January 29, 2020.
